Johnny and Jolyne George fish for a MEMORIAL DAY WIN on Sam Rayburn!!!

C.A.S.T. Southeast opened up a beautiful Memorial Day weekend with their fifth regional tournament of the season on May 24, 2008 out of Jackson Hill Marina on Lake Sam Rayburn. John and Jennifer Anderson greeted C.A.S.T. Southeast couples at Jackson Hill Marina for registration and breakfast provided by the great staff of Jackson Hill.

Twenty eight teams left Jackson Hill Marina and were greeted with overcast skies which would clear up in the middle day to blue bird skies and HOT. C.A.S.T. anglers raced to their spots to try to pick up a few quality Rayburn bass before having to work with boaters and jet skiers out on the water. C.A.S.T. anglers found many different patterns to be productive. Fish were caught in shallow grass, lily pads, outside grass edges, and deep water offshore structure.

Many of our C.A.S.T. anglers utilized their Just Keepers weigh in bag from www.duncanbags.com to bring their limits of fish to the scales.

The winning couple, Johnny and Jolyne George, brought in a nice limit of Sam Rayburn bass with a total weight of 19.95 lbs. They started the day off shallow and were able to pick up four fish quick before the jet skiers and wake boat crowd shut them down. Johnny and Jolyne did not let the traffic stop them. They decided to move out to the outside edge of the deeper grass lines and were able to pick up their fifth fish which was a "KICKER" that weighed 8.39 lbs. Congratulations to this successful team for a great WIN!

Second Place team, Landan and Anne Ware, brought in a limit of Sam Rayburn bass that weighed 17.96 lbs. Landan and Anne Ware are a mother / son team that fish real well together. Landan had to fish solo this weekend but did not let that stop him from establishing a pattern. Landan started out fishing buck brush and was not able to catch any fish with size to them. Landan decided to back out to the shallow grass and lily pads and still was not able to produce any fish with size to weigh in. Landan's next move was utilizing his big Lowrance Sonar / GPS unit to take him to offshore structure where he was able to establish a deep water pattern. Congratulations on this team's second place finish.

Third Place team with a total weight of 16.94 lbs went to Capital Regions own Dean Perkins and Debbie Peden. Dean and Debbie have a lake house on beautiful Sam Rayburn. Dean and Debbie fished shallow all day and were able to cull all day long. They said that their fish were located in a small area and did not move much through out the day. Congratulations to this great team on their finish.

Big Bass award goes to a team that is no stranger to catching BIG BASS. Nick and Sharon Albus came in with big bass of the day with a 9.83 lb. HOG. Nick and Sharon prefished the day before and hooked this fish on the third cast during practice. Nick said the fish looked to be 8 lbs and after jumping a few times the fish came off. Nick decided to go back during the tournament and on the second cast was able to get into a great fight with this BIG FISH. Within minutes Nick and Sharon had their big fish in the boat for the BIG BASS award. Congratulations to this team on their catch.
